A creator's checklist for protecting your content online

You can't make content theft impossible, but you can make it far less worthwhile. Start by watermarking your work with a subtle, hard-to-crop mark, it won't stop a determined pirate, but it speeds up takedowns and deters casual reposting.

Register your content where you can. A clear ownership record makes notices stronger and counter-claims weaker. Keep originals and upload dates somewhere you control.

Set up monitoring. Manually searching your own name is demoralizing and incomplete. Automated detection that fingerprints your content and scans continuously will find leaks you'd never catch by hand.

Finally, act fast and persistently. The first 48 hours matter most, and persistence beats stubborn hosts. If that sounds like a full-time job, it is. That's the part worth automating.
